We have recovered a lot of reclaimed driftwood from an old salt who's home was located on the edge
of Long Lake in Traverse City Michigan. At one time this picturesque landscape included one of the
first Hanna Lay saw mills in these Northern Territories.
The gentleman we speak of was determined to clear his beach front property of the wood but knew
it was of great value. As he pulled each piece of lumber from beneath the water he would clean and
stack it in his shop for drying. There it sat for more than 30 years. He would construct different works
with the wood as Christmas presents and such.
We have selected some very unique pieces of various woods species to be showcased.
Many are already so beautiful they will be left completely natural.
While others we have helped shape into more refined pieces.
As an artist, I really like to see what kind of beauty nature can reveal.
